Nooooooo I’m so sorry. Out of all the dangers of this trip (bears, wildlife, almost getting ran off a cliff, cold temperatures -well for your standards of cold, dirt roads with no shoulders atop mountains) you survived a lot. It is by God’s grace you were not on the bike when it got hit. I personally find the whole journey and attempt fascinating and I’m sure once your adrenaline diminishes you will reminisce on it all. Nothing in life is left undone, you just need to make life one big journey Robert ❤️
Like in any awesome video game adventure, unexpected and costly things happen or a trusted ally goes down that crush you, or at the very least, put you off-kilter. In that instance, you can hit pause to deal with the unexpected emotion of the moment (or you just have to go make dinner), and you can ponder on how to get to your body to retrieve your equipment or resurrect your downed teammate.
In reality, you just hit pause on your RL adventure. As you point out, you have to get your bike home. Your bike was, after all, your faithful companion; that's what is missing and off. Let the insurance adjuster and the rather fortuitously well-placed Triumph shop handle the repairs... but like a phoenix your Triumph will rise from the ashes, renewed. Then you can continue your adventure. The adventure is not actually at its final conclusion, until your trusted companion is back in its stable at home.
Hate to hear the Mormons took you out of commission but glad you weren’t on it this time; and dealing with insurance companies is almost as bad as dealing with Mormons. Thankful you’re making it home safe though. Maybe your bike retrieval will be Roberts adventure part 2: the revenge of the Methodist. Proud of you no matter what. This has been a major accomplishment
Robert, so sorry your trip had to end early and it feels unfinished! Maybe when you fly back you can finish the rest of the trip home and see all the rest of the scenery you missed.
Hey, the road trip is on pause! Naturally if it fits into your schedule you should just get back on that horse and ride, soldier!
What an interesting twist in this story. So you couldn't ride home with the fork twisted? (kidding)
